TagStrike: Google Tag Manager monitoring with change alerts, safety checks and one-click rollback

Every agency has lived this one. Someone publishes a "small" Google Tag Manager change on a Friday. Conversion tracking dies quietly. Three weeks later the client asks why leads fell off a cliff, and nobody can say what changed.

TagStrike ends that. It watches every GTM container you manage and tells you the moment something changes:

  • Slack alert within 5 minutes of any publish, showing exactly which tags, triggers and variables changed
  • 10 automatic safety checks on every version, catching removed conversion tags, broken triggers and personal data leaking into tags
  • A real browser loads your pages on a schedule and after every publish to prove tags still fire
  • GA4 key event monitoring that spots drops within hours and points straight at the publish that caused them
  • One-click rollback to the last version that worked
  • Bring your own AI: plug Claude, Cursor or any MCP tool into your containers to investigate and draft fixes, with a human approving every change before it goes live

How it's built

I designed and built it end to end, from product spec to production:

  • 50,000+ lines of TypeScript
  • 799 automated tests
  • 8 production modules on Cloudflare's edge
  • A full marketing site and a weekly blog covering GTM and GA4 updates
